The Sistine Chapel is in the Vatican palace in Rome, Italy. It is 134 ft long, 44 ft wide, and 85 ft high. The greatest paintings were painted by Michelangelo on the walls and ceiling. It took about four or five years. The paintings are all the stories from the bible like David and Goliath and Jesus. The architecture of the Sistine Chapel was by Giovannino de' Dolci. The roof and central windows are covered in barreled vaults. THe high windows makes the chapel look like a small fortress. The Sistine Chapel was commissioned by Julius II. This chapel is used for elections and ceremonies. The Sistine Chapel has art all over it. On one side has pictures of Moses's life and the other side had pictures of Jesus's life.
